New survey shows the UK would accept ad ban

The survey’s results indicate that most people are in favour of a live sports betting ad ban.

UK.- A recent report from the BBC indicating that Remote Gambling Association members had agreed to a total ban on gambling promotion during live sports broadcasts has triggered opinions from different sectors of the industry. While the RGA denied the rumours, a new survey showed that people would not be that opposed to a ban.

Harris Interactive conducted a snap poll of 963 respondents after the BBC released the report, and showed that 81% of the people surveyed would be in favour of the live sports betting ad ban. The number decreased to 66% when the poll focused on people who place online sports bets.

The audience consisted of 527 females and 436 males, 232 of them aged 18-34, 332 aged 35-54 and the remaining aged over 55. Those who actively place bets online consist of 60% of the people surveyed and said the ad ban would not affect their betting behaviour. 24% said they would likely reduce betting on live sports, while 18% said they would stop betting on live sports and 8% that they would stop altogether.
