New requests for sports betting licences in New Jersey
Hard Rock International and Tropicana Entertainment applied for licences to jump into the sports betting action in Atlantic City.
US.- Sports betting keeps its expansion in the US as states continue to regulate the segment, and New Jersey was one of the first in doing so. However, the industry is close to taking another step forward in the state as Hard Rock International and Tropicana Entertainment have applied for licences to open sportsbooks at their venues in Atlantic City.
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) made documents public and showed that both companies are looking for a “transactional waiver to commence sports pool and online sports pool operations.”
Hard Rock opened the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City in June and has announced its sportsbook will be powered by GiG and is set to open before 2019. Meanwhile, the Tropicana Casino & Resort Atlantic City has just completed a major renovation process and will work with William Hill to offer sports betting in the state.
Should the applications be successful, the waivers would be valid for six months while the full process of licensure continues in the background. Furthermore, the new sportsbooks will add up to the eight licenced venues that have opened since the state legalised sports betting.
