New interest in AC casino
Showboat Hotel looking to add a gaming salon in Atlantic City.
US.- Business owners in New Jersey are exploring new projects to maintain their operations as the financial recovery continues. One of them is the Showboat Hotel, which is looking to expand its services and build new businesses in the region with the opening of a gaming salon in Atlantic City.
The local press reported this week that Bart Blatstein, head of the development group that owns the Showboat, applied earlier this month for a statement of compliance from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement in order to reopen a gaming salon in the Atlantic City venue. The hotel was re-inaugurated in 2016 without gaming services.
“Upon consideration of a report and recommendation of the division, the commission may, in its discretion, issue a statement of compliance to an applicant for a casino license or to any person required to qualify in conjunction with a casino license or casino license applicant if the applicant or person, as the case may be, has established by clear and convincing evidence that one or more particular eligibility criteria have been satisfied,” reads Article 6 of the New Jersey Casino Control Act (CCA) related to Showboat’s filing.
Meanwhile, as heavy blizzards struck the US east coast and Atlantic City, casinos felt the cold as their revenue fell by 9.9 per cent in January. The US$184.3 million raked during the first month of the year was down compared to last year’s reports.
