New casino to replace Macy’s at Nittany Mall in Pennsylvania

Bally’s Corporation has signed an agreement to develop and run the new casino at Nittany Mall.

US.- A new casino will occupy the former Macy´s at Nittany Mall in State College, Pennsylvania. Former Penn State trustee and one-time lead partner of the Valley Forge Casino Resort, Ira Lubert, has won a licence to operate a Category 4 “mini-casino”.

Bally’s Corporation signed an agreement with Lubert in January to develop and run the gambling operation.

The casino will offer 750 slot machines, 30 table games, and sports betting. There will be a sport-themed restaurant with space for live entertainment. Developers presented a study saying the casino would have a one-time economic impact of $43.6m for College Township and $61.4m for Centre County.

John Delozier, managing partner for Nittany Hotel Group said: “This proposed casino will certainly be a major contributor to our recovery as a hospitality industry and as a community.”

Bally’s CEO Eric Pearson said the project will give life to the desolate mall. He said: “We really envision the casino being able to serve as a catalyst for revitalization within the Nittany Mall, which is currently at about 50 per cent occupied.”
