Nevada’s poker grew in September
The US$8.7 million collected by poker rooms in September extends Nevada’s cash game poker market’s winning streak to five months.
US.- Poker hasn’t been what it used to be for a couple of years now and operators are looking for alternatives to make the segment more appealing to players. However, over the last five months, Nevada’s cash game poker market has been on a winning streak and has had the best September since 2013, after poker rooms collected US$8.7 million.
In September 2013, Nevada had 80 rooms with a total 755 tables and raked US$8.9 million. This year, Nevada reached US$8.7 million with just 62 poker rooms and a total 598 tables, according to data compiled by the University of Nevada Las Vegas’ Center for Gaming Research. It’s still far from the US$12.6 million recorded in 2006 but is still great news for pokies in the state.
Poker rooms have recorded year-on-year revenue increases since may, reaching the longest streak since June-November 2013. What’s even better is that the segment might get a boost with the liquidity sharing deal with New Jersey and Delaware, that could even get larger with Pennsylvania, which has its online poker law as of this week.
