Nevada reaches $1b in gaming revenue in May

May numbers show that casino winnings increased 9.4 per cent from April and reached a billionaire figure.

US.- According to information released by the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB), casinos in the state totalled US$1 billion in casino winnings during May operations, which represent a 9.4 per cent increase from the previous month.

The number registered during May 2018 is also a 5.3 per cent increase when compared to the same period a year before. Casinos earned US$1.04 billion in May, up from the US$954 million that casinos earned from gamblers in April, the only month in 2018 where monthly statewide numbers fell below the US$1 billion mark.

Moreover, for the fiscal year running from July 1st through May 31st, casinos increased winnings to US$10.9 billion, a 3.14 per cent increase from the same period a year ago.

The Strip winnings rose more than 6.3 per cent from May 2017 to US$581.5 million, which represents more than half the statewide total. The only region in the state that reported declines was downtown Las Vegas with a 3.5 per cent fall, and the Boulder Strip, with a 0.2 per cent
