Nevada Gaming Commission limits salon login requirement to wagering guests
The Nevada Gaming Commission amended its gaming salon rules to remove the mandatory login requirement for non-wagering visitors.
US.- The Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) has made a minor change to gaming salon regulations to limit mandatory guest registration to people who intend to wager. The change modifies Regulation 5.200 by adding the term “wagering” to clarify that visitors who do not gamble will no longer have to log in before entering a salon.
The commission introduced the broader registration requirement last year, requiring all gaming salon patrons to log in before accessing the premises. According to John Michela, senior deputy attorney general at the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, the industry did not oppose the original rule but later found its application “somewhat burdensome.”
The amendment initially faced opposition from Commissioner George Markantonis, who warned that limiting registration to bettors could create a potential loophole in that casinos could see people enter gaming salons who are not known to the staff because they are not required to register. Michela acknowledged the concern but noted that gaming salons had no such login requirement before last year.
