Nevada casinos report $1b revenue in July
The local gaming regulator revealed that statewide casino gaming revenue declined 1.7 percent.
US.- The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) revealed on Wednesday that statewide casino gaming revenue reached US$998 million in July, a 1.7 percent fa when compared to the same period in 2016 but more than US$100k higher than June 2017.
Even though some casinos reported declines of over 7.7 percent year-on-year to US$565 million, the rest of the state, driven by the Boulder Strip with US$66.4 million reported good results. Slot machine revenue also helped with the numbers, as it increased 5.1 percent to US$632 million. On the other hand, table games activity fell 11.7 percent to US$365 million, led by a 19.6 percent fall to US$120 million of baccarat, roulette 14.3 percent decline to US$32.4 million and blackjack a 12.2 percent decrease to US$100 million.
The worst result for July’s operations has been sportsbook revenue, as it fell 95.3 percent to US$524k, the lowest number registered since the same month in 2014. Nevertheless, football contributed with US$627k, a 368 percent increase. It is expected that this month’s results will be significantly higher as the Mayweather-McGregor fight took place this weekend in Las Vegas.
Last month, the gaming control board said that state’s casino win increased 2.9 percent to US$11.4 billion during the fiscal 2016-2017. Downtown Las Vegas was the top scorer as it achieved the best number with US$608.7 million in winnings, but a 10.7 percent higher, three more times than overall Nevada and Las Vegas Strip. The Control Board said that of the 15 studied markets, only two had declines when compared to the previous 12 months, as Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. North Shore Lake Tahoe experienced a 2.5 percent decline to US$25.4 million, whilst the Boulder Strip was off 0.5 percent to US$793.9 million.
