Nevada governor orders casino shut down
Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak forces all casinos in the state to pull down the shutters until the end of the month.
US.- Governor Steve Sisolak has ordered all of the state’s casinos to close their doors as part of efforts to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
His announcement comes after several of the largest Las Vegas venues voluntarily pulled down the shutters on their properties.
MGM and Wynn Resorts were the first to announce they would closed, followed by Las Vegas Sands today.
Gov. Sisolak’s said he expects casinos to be closed until the end of the month at least with a an extended closure period possible.
“Today it is clear additional steps must be taken immediately to slow the spread of this deadly virus in our state,” Sisolak said.
“In order for those who will need critical care to be able to receive it, the rest of us need to do our part to stay healthy,” he added.
The decision is part of the “Stay home for Nevada” initiative which calls for residents to stay home as part of efforts to control the spread of the deadly virus.
Nevada is not the first state to order a casino shut down, following the likes of California, Florida, New York, Ohio, Illinois, Massachusetts and Washington.
