Nebraska online sports betting campaign says it has enough signatures for ballot
The Tax Relief Nebraska group has submitted nearly 350,000 signatures for two ballot initiatives.
US.- A group seeking the legalisation of online sports betting in Nebraska has submitted two ballot initiatives to the Secretary of State’s Office. Tax Relief Nebraska has submitted petitions totalling 350,000 signatures.
According to Nebraska Public Media, a petition seeking a constitutional amendment to legalise online sports betting received 201,000 signatures while a petition for a regulatory framework received 146,000 Both were submitted nearly a week ahead of a deadline and above the numbers sought of 126,000 for the constitutional amendment and 88,000 for the other petition.
Currently, Nebraska allows in-person sports betting at licensed racetrack casinos. In January, the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission (NRGC) announced that the state had joined the National Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program (NVSEP). The move allows people to voluntarily exclude themselves from casinos and pari-mutuel wagering through the online app.
