National Harbor is Maryland’s best performer

MGM’s latest casino to open in the United States has become once again the top scorer in the state.

US.- According to figures released yesterday by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency, MGM National Harbor generated US$51.9 million in revenue in October, reaching the US$50 million mark in monthly revenue for the sixth time since it opened last December.

MGM’s mark was once again higher than the other five casinos in the state, which overall generated US$133.2 million, an increase of US$37.7 million, a 39.5 percent, over the same period in 2016 when MGM wasn’t even open.

Horseshoe reported a 26.5 percent decline over2016’s results to US$19.5 million, which follows a 21.3 and 22.1 percent fall in August and September respectively. Lice Casino at Arundel mills, formerly called Maryland Live, reported a 13.9 percent decrease to US$45.8 million during October’s operations. Nevertheless, these results are not a surprise as the state had estimated that MGM’s opening would boost the casino activity in the state whilst pulling revenues from Live! Casino in Hanover and Horseshoe in Baltimore.

Back in September, MGM Resorts International and MGM Growth Properties LLC (MGP) revealed that they had entered a definitive agreement in which a subsidiary of MGP would purchase the long-term leasehold interest and real property investments associated to MGM National Harbor. However, MGM Resorts continues to run the operations at National Harbor.
