More MGM properties to reopen
The operator is to move forward with the reopening of two further US properties.
US.- MGM Resorts has announced it will reopen its New York resort, Empire City, on September 21, with Park MGM in Las Vegas to follow in mid-October.
After those two reopenings, only one MGM venue, Four Seasons Las Vegas, will remain closed following the pandemic shutdowns.
Speaking about Empire City, MGM chief executive and president Bill Hornbuckle said: “It’s been several months since we were forced to close, so it is with strong emotion that we welcome our team members back to work. Health and safety remain our first priority, and our commitment to New York has never been stronger.”
Safety will be prioritised through compulsory face masks, employee screenings, temperature checks and Covid-19 training for staff, MGM said.
Properties across the US are operating at state-defined reduced capacities, which led MGM to lay-off 18,000 employees last month.
