Michigan to launch online horse race wagering
Michigan Gaming Control Board allows online bets plus wagering on live and simulcast pari-mutuel racing.
US.- Michigan is close to launching online and mobile horse race wagering after an order on advance deposit wagering (ADW) was made last week.
The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) made the order following an amendment to the state’s horse racing laws in December 2019.
The new order gives third party companies the opportunity to offer bets online, as well as offering wagering on live and simulcast pari-mutuel racing.
MGCB Executive Director, Richard S. Kalm, said: “The order should enable the state’s horse racing industry to gain new followers through ADW and maintain protection for citizens who wish to place wagers on live and simulcast pari-mutuel racing in Michigan using their mobile phones.
“Before ADW can go live in Michigan, the race meeting licensee and the certified horsemen’s organisations also must agree to a contract with a provider.”
Before the Covid-19 pandemic forced much of the US into lockdown, Michigan was enjoying its first months of sports betting revenue.
