Michigan igaming revenue increases in August

Gross receipts from igaming and online sports betting were up 39.51 per cent year-on-year.

US.- Michigan’s commercial and tribal online gaming operators reported a combined $312.54m in gross receipts from igaming and online sports betting in August. That’s an increase of 39.51 per cent year-on-year and 9.8 per cent compared to July’s $285.2m.

According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), the online sports betting handle was $338.9m, up 19.9 per cent sequentially and 20.99 per cent year-on-year

Igaming gross receipts totalled $263.27m. That’s an increase of 5.10 per cent sequentially and 33.87 per cent year-on-year. Gross sports betting receipts were $44.6m, down 9.47 per cent from July’s $49.96m and up 63.08 per cent in year-on-year terms.

Combined adjusted gross receipts (AGR) for igaming and online sports betting were $281.4m: $247.2m came from igaming and $34.2m from online sports betting. Operators paid $53.7m in state taxes: $51.6m from igaming and $2.1m from internet sports betting.

Detroit’s three casinos reported $13.8m in wagering taxes and municipal services fees paid to the City of Detroit. Tribal operators reported $6.2m in payments made to their respective governing bodies.

As of August, there were 15 commercial and tribal operators: 11 offer online sports betting and 14 igaming. The Michigan regulator recently approved licence renewals for Detroit’s three commercial casinos, MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown.
