Massachusetts gaming revenue rises in March
Gross gaming revenue increased by 2.6 per cent year-over-year.
US.- The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has reported that Plainridge Park Casino (PPC), MGM Springfield (MGM), and Encore Boston Harbor (EBH) generated $107.8m in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in March. That’s an increase of 2.6 per cent year-over-year and up from $92m in February.
According to the report, Encore Boston Harbor led the market with $64.3m in GGR: $25.4m from table games and $39m from slots. MGM Springfield followed with $27m: $5.4m from table games and $21.7m from slots, while Plainridge Park Casino posted $16.4m from slots.
The seven online sports wagering licensees and the three in-person licensees generated $65.4m in taxable sports wagering revenue (TSWR). The sports betting handle was $699m, with $690.7m bet online and $8.3m at casinos. Taxable gaming revenue totalled $65.4m, and tax collected was $13m.
To date, the Commonwealth has collected approximately $434.3m in total taxes and assessments from licensed operators’ sports wagering operations since sports wagering began in person on January 31, 2023, and online on March 10, 2023.
EBH, MGM, and PPC are licensed as Category 1 Sports Wagering Operators, which allows them to operate a retail sportsbook at their respective property. Bally Bet, BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, ESPNBet, Fanatics Betting & Gaming, and FanDuel are licensed as Category 3 Sports Wagering Operators, which allows them to operate a mobile or online sportsbook.
