Massachusetts gaming revenue declines slightly in January

Gross gaming revenue was down 1.4 per cent year-over-year.

US.- The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) has reported that Plainridge Park Casino (PPC), MGM Springfield (MGM) and Encore Boston Harbor (EBH) generated $96.6m in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in January. That’s a decrease of 1.4 per cent from the same month in 2025.

Encore Boston Harbor led the market with $59.7m in GGR: $22m from table games and $37.6m from slots. MGM Springfield followed with $22.8m ($4.8m from table games and $18m from slots), while Plainridge Park Casino posted $14.2m from slots.

According to the report, the seven online sports wagering licensees and the three in-person licensees generated approximately $82.4m in taxable sports wagering revenue (TSWR). The sports betting handle totalled $809m, with $797m bet online and $11.8m at casinos.

EBH, MGM, and PPC are licensed as Category 1 Sports Wagering Operators, which allows them to operate a retail sportsbook at their respective property. Bally Bet, BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, ESPNBet, Fanatics Betting & Gaming, and FanDuel are licensed as Category 3 Sports Wagering Operators, which allows them to operate a mobile or online sportsbook.
