Massachusetts casino revenue continues to grow
Revenue for Massachusetts casinos saw their highest revenue since February 2020 in April.
US.- Massachusetts casino revenue continues to recover strongly, with April seeing the best revenue since February 2020.
According to the state’s gaming commission, the slots at Plainridge Park Casino, MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor jointly generated $84.63m in gross gaming revenue last month, about $673,000m more than in March. The casinos contributed more than $24.16m in taxes and fees for the state
The state’s share from April is the most it has collected from its three gaming licensees since February 2020, when gaming generated more than $24.32m for the state’s coffers during the last month without Covid-19 restrictions.
Gamblers spent $169.68m at the Plainville slots parlour in April, more than any month since June 2019. The house kept 7.38 per cent of all slot wagers, resulting in about $12.52m in gross monthly revenue, the highest total for Plainridge since July 2019.
That revenue, taxed at a rate of 49 per cent, generated more than $6.13m in taxes and fees for state government.
At MGM Springfield, the amount of money wagered on slots totalled $204.1m in April. The house kept 8.65 per cent of that for about $17.65m in slot revenue. In total, the casino reported more than $21.93m in gross gaming revenue in April.
Encore Boston Harbor once again generated more than half of the state’s gross gaming revenue at $50.18m. Around $29m of Encore’s GGR last month came from its slots, on whoch players spent more than $336.1m. Table games accounted for about $21.19m of Encore’s April gaming revenue.
The Everett casino yielded nearly $12.55m in tax revenue for the state in April.
