Maryland to lift Casino restrictions
Maryland’s governor has announced the lifting of restrictions on indoor businesses including casinos.
US.- Maryland will lift restrictions on casinos along with other indoor businesses after almost three months of lockdown due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Governor Larry Hogan announced business in the state will be allowed to reopen indoor venues, such as restaurants, gyms and casinos, in line with the decision of other states throughout the country.
The state’s five casinos will reopen on June 19, as well as arcades and shopping malls, with strict health and safety protocols.
Indoor dining will be allowed from tomorrow (Friday) at 50 per cent capacity with social distancing in place.
Indoor gyms and other indoor sports activities will be able to open at 50 per cent capacity from 5pm on June 19.
According to the governor, authorities will encourage schools to hold outdoor graduation ceremonies with appropriate capacity and distancing in place.
Outdoor amusement rides and miniature golf will be allowed to resume, and capacity restrictions at outdoor pools will increase to 50 per cent.
The governor said: “Our health and economic recovery depends on all of us continuing to exercise personal responsibility in order to keep ourselves, our family members, our neighbors and our co-workers safe.”
Yesterday, Maryland reported that there had been 59,465 confirmed cases of the virus in the state. There have been 451,967 tests conducted, with a positivity rate of 7.25 per cent. There have been 2,719 confirmed deaths in Maryland due to the virus.
