Maryland sports betting handle rises year-over-year in May

The handle increased 6.2 per cent year-on-year.

US.- US.- Maryland Lottery and Gaming has reported that the state’s sports betting handle was $535.4m in May. That’s an increase of 6.2 per cent from the same month in 2025. Some $526.1m was bet online and $9.2m at retail.

Winnings totalled $469.6m, with operators holding 12.3 per cent of the handle. Taxable win totalled $49.6m. The market generated $9.9m in state contributions. Some $7.4m went to public education programmes supported by the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund. Since the inception of the sports wagering programme in December 2021, $271.3m has gone to the Blueprint Fund.

The six casinos in the state generated a combined $170m in revenue from slot machines and table games in May. That’s down 3.7 per cent year-on-year and a slight dip from $172.2m in April.
