Maryland sports betting handle rises in October

The handle increased of 11.1 per cent from September 2025.

US.- Maryland’s sports betting handle totalled $736.6m in October. That’s an increase of 11.1 per cent from September 2025. Of the total, $723.3m was bet online and $13.3m at retail.

According to figures released by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA), winnings totalled $663.8m. Sportsbook operators held 9.9 per cent of the handle.

The combined retail and mobile contribution to the Blueprint Fund was $10.6m, while $3.5m in mobile proceeds went to the General Fund. Through the first four months of fiscal year 2026, from July 2025 through October 2025, sports wagering contributions to the state totalled $43.9m.

Retail sports wagering operators contribute 15 per cent of their taxable proceeds to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund, which supports public education programmes. Mobile sports wagering operators contribute 15 per cent of their taxable proceeds to the Blueprint Fund and 5 per cent to the state’s General Fund.

Canton Gaming and Crab Services launched a new retail operation at 1008 Reisterstown Road in Pikesville on October 24. Canton Gaming previously operated a sportsbook in Towson. The state has 13 retail sportsbook locations and 12 mobile platforms.

Meanwhile, the state’s six casinos generated $162.05m in revenue from slot machines and table games in October. That’s an increase of 1 per cent year-over-year and 6.9 per cent from September.
