Maryland sports betting handle rises in April
The handle increased 11.8 per cent year-on-year.
US.- Maryland Lottery and Gaming has reported that the sports betting handle in the state was $574.2m in April. That’s an increase of 11.8 per cent year-on-year. Some $566.1m was bet online and $8.1m at retail locations. Winnings were $511.1m, with operators holding 11.0 per cent of the handle. Taxable win totalled $45.9m.
The sports betting market generated $9.1m in contributions to the state. Some $6.9m went to the Blueprint Fund, while $2.3m in mobile proceeds went to the General Fund. Since the inception of the sports betting programme in December 2021, $264m has gone to the Blueprint Fund.
In April, the six casinos in the state generated a combined $172.2m in revenue from slot machines and table games. That’s an increase of 5.9 per cent year-on-year and the best single-month of fiscal year 2026 so far. In March, revenue was $168.1m.
