LVCVA report shows Las Vegas visitor numbers remain low

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has reported disappointing visitor numbers despite the reopening of casinos.

US.- Visitor volume in Las Vegas for June was down by 70.5 per cent on last year, according to a report from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

The LVCA says just over 1 million visited casinos in Las Vegas this June –usually one of the busiest months for the industry.

Casinos are still operating at a 50 per cent reduced capacity and conventions have all been either postponed or cancelled.

Operators are taking measures in a bid to encourage more visitors, including temporarily releasing resort fees in the cases of Sahara and M Resort, and heavily discounting rooms in many cases.

It remains to be seen how gaming revenue is affected. Three casinos in Maryland reported increases in revenues for the last quarter despite operating at a reduced capacity.
