US.- The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) has reported that 3.28 million people visited Las Vegas in April. That’s a 1.8 per cent decrease year-over-year.
The hotel occupancy for the month reached 83.1 per cent, down 1.5 points. Weekend occupancy was 92.7 per cent, down 1.1 points and midweek occupancy 79.5 per cent, down 1.7 points. Convention attendance increased by 3.2 per cent to 592,100, supported by recurring shows like NAB and the Google NEXT conference and the return of rotating shows, including the Coverings tradeshow.
In the first quarter of the year, Las Vegas saw a 0.4 per cent increase in visitation to 9.74 million. The convention segment attracted nearly 2 million attendees, an increase of 12.3 per cent. In 2025, Las Vegas received 38.5 million visitors, down 7.5 per cent year-over-year.
Meanwhile, the Las Vegas casino scene looks set for a shake up, with Tilman Fertitta to buy Caesars Entertainment in a transaction valued at around $17.6bn. Fertitta Entertainment, which owns the casino and hotel chain Golden Nugget and Landry’s restaurants as well as the NBA’s Houston Rockets, has offered $31 per share for Caesars, which represents a 49 per cent premium on the stock’s closing price on February 25 before the possibility of a deal was first reported.
Caesars’ board has unanimously approved the sale and urged shareholders to accept the offer, with July 11 the deadline to consider alternative offers under a “go‑shop” provision.
