Japan casinos are still delayed

The integrated resorts implementation bill in Japan is still on hold by national authorities.

Japan.- National authorities in Japan still haven’t approved the expected integrated resorts implementation bill in order to enable casino operators to develop the gaming industry. The Japanese gaming market could be one of the most profitable in the International casino industry, although authorities have not given the green light yet.

Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Keiichi Ishii, whose ministry is expected to have a central oversight role over IRs, was asked about the matter by a Japanese journalist at a press conference and he responded: “A specific system will be examined in the future by the government and the ruling party, but we will not be on time to submit the legislation.”

Meanwhile, a new survey carried away by Mainichi Shinbun revealed that a majority of lawmakers of the House of Representatives support the legalisation of casino gambling in Japan. A 57 percent of the total of elected lawmakers support casinos.

Mainichi Shinbun, one of the biggest news outlets in Japan, unveiled in its report that 261 of the elected lawmakers in the October 22 general election are in favor of the legalisation of casinos in Japan, which represents a 57 percent of the total of representatives. The report showed that there’s a difference of 109 representatives between those who support gambling and those who don’t.
