Jamaican Prime Minister encourages casino project
The Prime Minister wants the Harmony Cove integrated casino resort project to move forward.
Jamaica.- Andrew Holness, Jamaican Prime Minister, has requested the Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ) to move ahead with the casino project in Trelawny. The Prime Minister said the project could bring economic growth and boost Jamaican tourism market.
“This project is one that the DBJ needs to take a very serious look at. The Government is very anxious that this be done. My charge to the board is to get on with this project. We have to make some decisions on it; we have to move ahead,” he said.
Harmony Cove is owned by the National Housing Trust and the DBJ. Harmonisation Limited, the casino developer, projected that the casino will have 5000 rooms. The construction of the first 1000 rooms is valued at US$900 million.
