Italian casino revenue drops in November

November was a tough month for the Italian industry as revenue was down at every casino year-on-year, although last year saw major growth.

Italy.- Local news outlet Gioconews.it has revealed November was a tough month for the industry. As they reported, the Italian casino revenue was down on all venues from the same month in 2018.

November’s figures saw Saint Michel perform the best with €4.97 million revenue, down 2.97%. However, the venue had been up 33.24% in the same period in 2018, which eased up the bad news. Table games were down 14.47% and slots were up 6.9% and overall revenue was up 6.58% at €55.32 million in the last 11 months.

Meanwhile, San Remo’s revenue dropped 3.47% to €2.89 million, totalling €40.58 million to date, 4.96% better.

Out of the Italian casino revenue drop, the Casino di Venezia was the worst. The venue reached a 14.4% drop to €7.1 million, as floods washed out tourism and fueled the crisis. For the 11 months of 2019, the casino in Venice was down 5.93%.

iGaming segment

The online gaming industry continues to grow worldwide but is facing some hurdles here and there. That’s the case in Italy, where the government has targeted the iGaming industry and wants to shrink it.

The authorities announced their plans to cut down online gaming licences from 85 to 50 by 2023. It will do so through its first Budget Law decree. Regulator Agenzia delle dogane e dei Monopoli (ADM) published the document, which includes measures to cover the whole market.

The new regime in Italy for iGaming will price licences at €2 million each and will run for nine years, starting 2023.
