Iowa casino revenue decreases in April
Adjusted gross revenue totalled $141.1m, down 1.8 per cent year-over-year.
US.- Adjusted gross casino revenue in Iowa totalled $141.1m in April, down 1.8 per cent year-over-year and 9 per cent from March. Table revenue was $13.3m and slot revenue of $127.7m.
Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino led the market with $19.5m, down 1.9 per cent year-over-year. Horseshoe Casino Council Bluffs reported $15.4m, down 0.3 per cent, Ameristar II $14.1m, down 7 per cent and Riverside Casino and Golf Resort $10m, down 7.5 per cent.
Isle Casino Hotel Waterloo reported $8.1m, up 2.4 per cent, Wild Rose Jefferson $3.2m up 7.6 per cent and Isle of Capri Bettendorf $5.7m, up 5.4 per cent.
Penn Entertainment recently announced plans for a $180m–$200m project to relocate operations from Ameristar Casino Hotel Council Bluffs riverboat casino in Iowa to a new, land-based property. The venue will be rebranded as Hollywood Casino Council Bluffs.
The proposal was approved by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission (IRGC), with a 15-year extension of Ameristar’s partnership with the nonprofit Qualified Sponsoring Organization (QSO) Iowa West Racing Association. Commercial operators in Iowa are required to have an operating agreement with a QSO licensed to conduct gaming operations.
