Casino to open at Illinois’ Fairmount Park

The venue will be the first racino in the state.

US.- A casino at Fairmount Park in Collinsville will open on April 18, making the racing venue the first racino in Illinois. Parent company Accel Entertainment said the move involved an investment of $85m to $95m in casino facilities and improvements to the horse racing experience in what is the venue’s 100th anniversary year.

Phase 1 involves the opening of a temporary casino in the grandstand. The 12,000-square-foot venue offers over 270 slot machines and electronic table games. Phase 2 will include a permanent casino on the property with 271 slot machines and electronic table games. Three new food concessions including a full-service restaurant and bar will open in June.

Vince Gabbert, Sr. VP of US gaming and general manager at Fairmount Park Casino & Racing, said: “Soon, folks will be able to come in and enjoy the casino as well as racing here at the track. We’ve brought in the best slot machines and electronic table games on the market. Every game on the floor is either brand-new or a fan favorite, making for an exciting selection.

“The initial Racing Day will be April 22, and we’ll race every Tuesday and Saturday from April 22 to November 1, 2025. We’re very excited about the racing product and the new casino buildout that’s taking place in our grandstand.”

Fairmount Park Casino & Racing at 9301 Collinsville Road is the only active horse-racing venue in the St. Louis area. It hosts 65 race days and about 435 horse races annually.
