Ontario gaming revenue hits new record in December

Total non-adjusted gross gaming revenue for the period was US$313.7m.

Canada.- iGaming Ontario has reported that the regulated market saw a record of CA$425.4m (US$313.7m) in non-adjusted gross gaming revenue (NAGGR) in December. That’s an increase of 5 per cent compared to November and a 57.3 per cent rise in year-on-year terms.

Total cash wagers for the month reached CA$9.5bn (US$7bn), up 2 per cent month-on-month. Average revenue per active player account (ARPPA) was CA$334 (US$256.3), up 7 per cent, setting a new record, despite a slight 2 per cent dip in active player accounts, which stood at 1.28m for the period.

Online casino gaming continues to be the primary driver of the Ontario market, accounting for 87 per cent of all wagering activity. In December, casino wagers totalled CA$8.27bn (US$6.1bn), an increase of 8 per cent month-on-month, and generated CA$320.5m (US$236.4m) in revenue.

The sports betting segment saw wagers of CA$1bn (US$737.5m), down 13 per cent month-on-month, while NAGGR was down 3 per cent sequentially to CA$99.1m (US$73.1m). The vertical maintained a 23 per cent market share. Peer-to-peer poker remained the smallest segment, contributing CA$141m (US$104m) in wagers, up 9 per cent, and CA$5.8m (US$4.3m) in NAGGR, down 3 per cent.

For the full 2025 calendar year, wagers in the province reached CA$98.3bn (US$72.5bn). That’s an increase of 26 per cent in year-on-year terms. NAGGR reached CA$4bn (US$2.95bn), up 34 per cent year-on-year.

Since the market’s launch in April 2022, Ontario’s operator revenue has now surpassed CA$10bn (US$7.37bn). The province currently hosts 48 licensed operators running 82 gaming sites.
