Two iGaming fines stand in the Netherlands

A court in the Netherlands has rejected an appeal over two iGaming fines worth nearly €400k for two companies that had broken Dutch gambling laws.

Netherlands.- Two years after two fines worth €400k were set on two iGaming companies, a court in the Netherlands confirmed the punishment. The two operators had broken Dutch gambling laws, punished for it and appealed the decision, but failed.

Simbat Entertainment Systems Limited will have to pay €270k, while Spinity Limited faces a €100k payment. Their appeal to The Court of The Hague over a Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) ruling in July 2017 failed.

Simbat was found offering games of chance through 11 different websites. Spinity promoted Simbat and its gambling games.

“Under current law, it is not possible to obtain a licence to offer online games of chance. That means that offering online games of chance is by definition illegal,” the KSA said in a statement. “Advertising of online games of chance is also not allowed.”

“Participants in online gambling are not protected; it is not possible to check the fairness of the game and the exclusion of minors. It is also not possible to check whether gambling addiction is prevented.”
