High Roller Technologies submits licence application in Ontario
The company expects the launch of its flagship online brand in the second half of 2025.
Canada.- High Roller Technologies, operator of the online casino brands High Roller and Fruta, has announced the submission of an Internet Gaming Operator licence application in Ontario. The company hopes to launch the High Roller brand in the Canadian province in the second half of 2025.
Ben Clemes, chief executive officer at High Roller, said: “The submission of our licensing application to access Ontario’s regulated online gambling market is an important milestone in our company’s journey. Once our application is approved, we anticipate that we will have the opportunity to launch our online casino product into the market later this year.
“Ontario is missing an elegant brand like High Roller. We’re excited to roll out the red carpet for our new customers, and we’re looking forward to showcasing our tremendous product.”
The company also expressed interest in expanding to Alberta. It said: “Recently, the province of Alberta passed enabling legislation to establish a regulatory framework for online gambling. Once available, the company also intends to pursue licensure in Alberta to expand its regulated market footprint in Canada.”
Ontario’s regulated igaming market generated CA$313.3m in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in April, up 6 per cent from March. According to iGaming Ontario, wagers totalled CA$7.7bn, down 2 per cent from March. The number of player accounts rose by 3 per cent to 1,091.
Online casino accounted for 78 per cent of total igaming revenue at CA$242.8m, up 1 per cent from March. Sports betting GGR rose 34 per cent to CA$64.5m, representing 21 per cent of all GGR. Peer-to-peer poker generated CA$5.9m in GGR, down 11 per cent month-on-month.
