Hard Rock interested in Vietnam project

After the PPC revealed its intentions to build a casino at Laguna Lăng Cô, Hard Rock confirmed its interest in developing the facility.

Vietnam.- A senior executive from Hard Rock confirmed the company’s interest in developing and operating a casino at the Laguna Lăng Cô resort in Thua Thien Hue, Vietnam. The official told GGRAsia that Hard Rock wants to begin construction as soon as the government approves the casino license.

“We have finished all the site studies and completed all project financing,” said Daniel Cheng, Hard Rock’s senior vice president for casino business development in Asia, to the news outlet. “All we are waiting is for the [Vietnam] national government to issue the casino licence and we are ready to put spade on the ground immediately.” The company had been shortlisted in 2015 as the potential partner for the resort.

The beach resort project located in 280 hectares in the North Central Coast has a capital of US$875 million, as Viet Nam News reported. The proposal establishes that the casino facility could cost US$250 million and it would be integrated during the second, third and fourth phase of the project. The Thua Thien Hue Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) is set to partner with Hard Rock International for both the hotel and casino operations, as Vietnambiz reported earlier this month.
