Greece to start consultation process for new casino
A commission in charge of granting new casino licences is seeking an investor for a new project.
Greece.- The Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC) has revealed that the consultation process for the approval of a casino licence in Elliniko, Southern Athens, is close to its start. The commission in charge of granting new licences is paving the way for the tender to find an investor.
As Ekathimerini reported, company Lamda signed a 99-year lease with the state four years ago in order to develop an integrated resort with residences, hotels and casinos, among other things in the 620 hectares where a former airport was located. HGC said that those interested in participating in the consultation can submit feedback and comments on the initial teaser by September 10th.
The HGC believes that the decision “reflects the collective vision and commitment to collaborate on the further development and implementation of a sustainable tourism destination.” And added that they want to see a world-class integrated resort casino operation as an important part of Elliniko.
The commission sees this project as one that would transform the wider area of Athens, the capital of Greece, and improve the lives of residents and visitors, as well as to enhance the Greek tourism product and become a growth engine for the Greek economy.
