Connecticut: Gov refuses to fast-track iGaming law

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont said he will not take a unilateral decision on whether to legalise online casino in the state.

US.- Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont said he will not take a unilateral decision on whether to legalise online casino in the state.

Lamont received a letter of Foxwoods Resorts Casinos and Mohegan Sun asking him to accelerate legislation that would allow them to launch online casinos to players in the state amid the on-going Coronavirus crisis.

According to Gambler News, the request was made via a letter from Mark Nickerson who works for the Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments as the council’s Chairman.

In his letter, Nickerson called on the state’s Governor to approve the tribal organisations’ launch of mobile gambling and betting apps, but the request was denied.

The legislature will meet on April 23 and it is expected they will take a decision on whether to allow online casino in the session on May 6.

Connecticut’s tribal casinos have extended their closure until the end of April due to Coronavirus.
