Global iGaming to land in New Jersey

New Jersey’s government has also proposed the inclusion of international iGaming platforms to the legal market.

US.- New Jersey’s online gaming market could be further expanded with international platforms. Currently, authorised iGaming websites are operated by land-based casino companies that already have the required state license. However, legislators received a new proposal this week to grant further permissions.

“I’ve changed my mission from making New Jersey the Silicon Valley of Internet gaming to the Mecca of Internet gaming,” explained the bill’s sponsor, Senator Raymond Lesniak in an interview with CNBC. “Online gaming has helped Atlantic City to revive its casino sector with a success that we can expand in ways that will generate more revenue, create jobs and fuel technological innovation in gaming.”

Furthermore, players from other regulated areas outside New Jersey would also be able to place bets on the state’s regulated platforms. The new bill is Lesniak’s second attempt at expanding the local iGaming industry, as a similar project was introduced in 2013, although the Senate dismissed it.

However, the state senator is more optimistic now due to the proven benefits the online casino sector generated since its legalisation in 2013. The market is so profitable that New Jersey’s Governor Chris Christie has signed a bill to resist a possible federal ban. The state legislation could prevent the US Congress and Presidency to implement new laws banning online gaming.
