Gaming and Leisure Properties provides update on Bally’s Chicago casino development
The venue will open at the former Chicago Tribune site in the fourth quarter of 2026.
US.- Gaming and Leisure Properties (GLPI) has provided an update on its $1.19bn Bally’s Chicago casino development. The company has released renderings of the venue, which will open at the former Chicago Tribune site in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The new resort will feature a 178,000 square-foot casino with more than 3,300 slots and 170 table games, a 500-room hotel, restaurants, event space, and a community-enhancing riverwalk and green space. GLPI invested $1.19bn investment, including the $250m acquisition of the site.


Work that has been done includes the demolition of the Chicago Tribune buildings and the insertion of caissons. The current works include concrete pours for shallow foundation walls, columns, basement level and elevator core walls. It also includes underground permanent electrical and plumbing work, installation of structural grade beams and perimeter walls and structural wall construction along Chicago Avenue.
Bally’s Chicago at Medinah Temple, the company’s temporary location, opened in September 2023. The venue features 750 slot machines and 50 table games.
