Former NFL player places first sports bet in Louisiana
Former New Orleans Saints Joe Horn placed a bet at the Paragon Casino Resort to launch sports betting in the state.
US.- Joe Horn, a Louisiana fan favorite when he played for the NFL’s New Orleans Saints, has placed the first legal sports bet at the Paragon Casino Resort.
Horn, who also played for the Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons, said: “I bet a little money to win a lot.”
The Paragon Casino in Marksville started accepting wagers yesterday afternoon (October 6). The venue, the first casino in Louisiana to host a sportsbook, is owned and operated by the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana.
In an interview with USA Today Network, Paragon Casino General Manager Marshall Sampson Sr. said: “Our sports bar that connects with The Draft Room has been open since April, and our guests have been calling every day to ask when the sports book is opening”.
The Louisiana Gaming Control Board is expected to grant more sports-betting licenses soon to commercial properties that it regulates. The state is home to 13 riverboat casinos, one land-based casino in New Orleans, and four horse tracks with slots.
