FanDuel Group and Cordish Companies have officially launched sports betting at the Maryland casino.
Pro football hall-of-famer Ed Reed participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Maryland´s casino before placing a $20 moneyline wager on Dustin Poirier to win at UFC 269.
Located inside the resort´s sports lounge Sports & Social Maryland, FanDuel Sportsbook occupies a 14,000-square-foot area, with a 100-feet wide media screen, two main bars and a VIP space. It has 10 betting windows and 31 IGT PlaySports self-service terminals.
Governor Larry Hogan said: “Today marks the culmination of more than a year of effort to get sports betting up and running here in the State of Maryland. In addition to allowing Marylanders to bet on football, basketball, and more, sports betting will also help to keep more dollars in-state and will provide another critical revenue source for public education without raising taxes on families and small businesses.”
Rob Norton, President of Cordish Global Gaming and Live! Casino, added: “The combination of two powerhouse brands – Live! best known for our premier entertainment venues, and FanDuel for its leading Sportsbook – will offer an unmatched experience for sports betting enthusiasts in the State of Maryland.
“The launch of the FanDuel Sportsbook, in the heart of Sports & Social Maryland, has been highly anticipated and will provide our guests with the ultimate fan experience.”
Keith Wall, Vice President of Retail, FanDuel Group commented: “Our successful partnership continues to expand with today’s launch marking our second state and third location with The Cordish Companies.
“We are excited to expand our retail footprint to our 13th state by bringing the FanDuel Sportsbook to a world-class casino in the heart of Maryland.”
Last week, MGM Resorts International and BetMGM launched sports betting at MGM National Harbor in Maryland.
