DraftKings, new Platinum Member of the NCPG
The fantasy sports and sports betting operator DraftKings has joined the NCPG as a Platinum Member.
US.- DraftKings has become a Platinum Member of the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG). This partnership will help develop and implement responsible gambling practices in the legalised sports betting industry in the US.
DraftKings’ membership is part of the company’s attempt to ensure that every user has an engaging and safe experience, Tim Dent, CCO of DraftKings explained. “We are proud to partner with a leading responsible gaming organisation like the NCPG to ensure our internal efforts are informed by independent experts. DraftKings is committed to being a leader in responsible gaming efforts as we continue to expand our product into new states and more Americans have access to legal, mobile sports betting, and iGaming.”
The partnership helps build upon NCPG efforts, including the Safer Sports Betting Initiative and Internet Responsible Gambling Standards, that assist gambling operators by providing best practice responsible gambling policies and procedures for all online gambling activities, including sports betting. These initiatives, further empowered by the DraftKings partnership, will help reduce the risk of problem gambling and gambling addiction associated with sports betting.
I am thrilled that DraftKings, a leader in online gaming and sports betting, has joined NCPG,” said Keith Whyte, Executive Director of NCPG. “This marks a new era in our work to raise awareness about problem gambling and provide resources for responsible gambling. We are excited to work with DraftKings to utilize technology and data to increase our mutual understanding of player behaviour and reduce the risks of gambling problems.”
NCPG launched advisory board
The NCPG has announced its new Advisory Board, which provides mechanisms for leaders in the industry about responsible gambling and problem gambling. The list of advisory members was appointed by a majority vote of the board of directors and can be seen here.
Keith Whyte, Executive Director of NCPG, explained that the problem and responsible gambling environment in the country is changing rapidly with the continued expansion of casinos, lotteries, and the addition of sports betting. “NCPG faces an ever more complex ecosystem of issues to address,” he said.
“We are so thankful to and excited for the Advisory Board members to collaboratively guide NCPG in our efforts to raise awareness about problem gambling and increase resources for addressing this important issue,” he added.
