DraftKings and MLB expand partnership
The DFS and sports betting operator DraftKings has been named an authorised gaming operator of the Major League Baseball (MLB).
US.- DraftKings has announced a multi-year agreement to become an Authorized Gaming Operator of the Major League Baseball (MLB). The partnership will boost DraftKings’ betting offerings, mainly live and in-game options.
DraftKings said that its offerings will improve as real-time betting becomes increasingly popular during sports and entertainment events. The MLB granted DraftKings the rights to use official data along with marks and logos within DraftKings sports betting products.
The agreement demonstrates the league’s vision to leverage the potential for the integration of official data and technology in sports. It is also a foundational element for the next generation of baseball fans, explained the companies in a press statement.
“Given DraftKings’ successes in driving fan engagement and immersive experiences, we’re looking forward to an expanded partnership and further collaboration on engaging products,” said Kenny Gersh, MLB Executive Vice President, Gaming & New Business Ventures. “Buoyed by our collective commitments to drive innovation in the U.S. sports betting marketplace, the tools provided to DraftKings – including fast, rich and reliable data feeds and MLB brand marks – will be central to creating these powerful new ways to consume and connect with our sport.”
The partnership will bring more instantaneous data feeds to DraftKings Sportsbook, supplementing the live betting experience. Additionally, customers will notice the use of official MLB team logos revitalising the look and feel of the sportsbook. The DraftKings Sportsbook app is available to download for both iOS and Android.
DraftKings appoints new CFO
Last month, the company announced the hiring of a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Jason Park will help boost success, as more states in the US begin to welcome sports betting and pass laws allowing for DFS play.
Park will also be a new strategic advisor to CEO Jason Robins and senior management in navigating the operations. Tim Dent, who has overseen financial operations for the company since 2012, will transition fully into Chief Compliance Officer.
