Detroit casino revenue rises in April
The aggregate revenue increased 8.3 per cent year-over-year.
US.- The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has reported that Detroit’s three commercial casinos, MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown, collectively generated $118.9m in aggregate revenue (AGR) in April. That’s an increase of 8.3 per cent year-over-year.
Of the total AGR, table games and slots generated $118.03m, up 7.8 per cent year-over-year and 5.8 per cent from March 2026. From January 1 through April 30, revenue was up by 1.4 per cent year-over-year.
MGM Grand Detroit Casino accounted for 49 per cent of the market with revenue of $58.4m, up 14.3 per cent year-over-year. MotorCity Casino accounted for 29 per cent with $34.1m in revenue, up 3.2 per cent, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown 22 per cent, with $25.5m, up 0.8 per cent.
According to the report, casinos paid $9.6m in state gaming taxes, compared with $8.9m in the same period in 2025. They reported submitting $14.0m in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit.
The retail sports betting handle was $8.7m, and total gross receipts were $868,546. Qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR) were $837,397, up by $520,859 from April 2025 and 3.3 per cent from March 2026. The casinos paid $31,654 in state taxes and submitted $38,688 in wagering taxes to the City of Detroit.
