Detroit casino revenue comes in flat in May
The city’s three commercial casinos reported $114.09m in aggregate revenue.
US.- The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has reported that Detroit’s commercial casinos, MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown, collectively generated $114.09m in aggregate revenue (AGR) in May. That’s almost flat against May 2025’s $114m and down slightly from April 2026.
Of the total AGR, table games and slots generated $113.3m, up 0.5 per cent year-over-year but down 4 per cent from April 2026. MGM Grand Detroit Casino accounted for 46 per cent of the market with revenue of $58.8m, down 0.7 per cent year-over-year. MotorCity Casino generated $35.6m, up 4.8 per cent, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown $25m, down 2.6 per cent.
Casinos paid $9.18m in state gaming taxes, compared with $9.13m in May 2025. They submitted $13.5m in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit.
The retail sports betting handle was $7.21m, and total gross receipts were $799,787. Qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR) were $781,668, down 39 per cent from May 2025 and 6.7 per cent from April 2026.
