Detroit casino revenue drops slightly in January

Aggregate revenue decreased 0.9 per cent year-over-year and 1.2 per cent from December 2025.

US.- The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has reported that Detroit’s three commercial casinos, MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown, collectively generated $103.9m in aggregate revenue (AGR) in January. That’s a drop of 0.9 per cent year-over-year and 1.2 per cent from December 2025.

Of the total, table games and slots generated $103.1m, up 0.8 per cent year-over-year and down 0.3 per cent from December. MGM Grand Detroit Casino accounted for 49 per cent of the market share with revenue of $50.2m, up 0.5 per cent. MotorCity Casino accounted for 30 per cent, with $31m, up 1.2 per cent, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown 21 per cent, with $21.9m, up 0.7 per cent.

The casinos paid $8.4m in gaming taxes, compared with $8.3m in the same month in 2025. They also submitted $12.3m in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit.

The casinos reported a retail sports betting handle of $11.3m, generating $789,669 in gross receipts. Qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR) decreased 69.5 per cent year-over-year and 55.2 per cent from December 2025 to $770,319. The casinos paid $29,118 in state taxes and submitted $35,589 in wagering taxes to the City of Detroit.
