Detroit casino revenue decreases in September

Revenue was down 7.5 per cent from August.

US.- The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has reported that Detroit’s MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown collectively generated $98.9m in revenue in September, down 7.5 per cent from August. Of the total, table games and slot machines accounted for $98.2m and retail sports betting $747,425.

Revenue from table games and slots decreased 3 per cent year-over-year and 7.1 per cent from August 2025. MGM Grand Detroit Casino accounted for 47 per cent of the market share with revenue of $45.9m, down 3.8 per cent, while MotorCity Casino held 30 per cent ($28.9m, down 7.2 per cent) and Hollywood Casino at Greektown 23 per cent ($23.4m, up 4.5 per cent).

The casinos paid $8m in state gaming taxes, down from $8.2m year-over-year. They also submitted $16.1m in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit.

The casinos reported a combined retail sports betting handle of $13.5m, generating $775,903 in gross receipts. Qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR) from retail sports betting decreased 1.1 per cent year-over-year and 39.8 per cent from August 2025.

The MGCB has approved licence renewals for Detroit’s three commercial casinos after a review of each casino’s operations, regulatory compliance and commitment to responsible gaming.
