Cyprus minister says casinos contribute to tourism
Melco’s two casinos in Cyprus contribute to the local industry, according to Minister Perdios.
Cyprus.- Melco Group unveiled two properties in Cyprus in 2018, and it’s on its way to build the biggest facility in Europe yet. Cyprus Deputy Minister for Tourism Savvas Perdios said that the casinos are of great importance to the local tourism product.
Perdios was welcomed by Lawrence Ho, Chairman and CEO of Melco Group, on Thursday during a visit to Cyprus Casinos C2 Nicosia. As it was revealed by the company, both shared their views on the deputy minister’s strategy for tourism and Melco’s plan for City of Dreams Mediterranean Integrated Casino Resort (ICR) and all casinos properties in the country, Cyprus Mail reported.
“We consider Melco an important contributor to Cyprus’ tourism in establishing the island as a popular and must-visit destination. Our goals are aligned and we will have a close cooperation in establishing Europe’s biggest casino resort and putting Cyprus on the global tourism map,” said Perdios.
Moreover, Ho highlighted Melco’s commitment to the project and said that Cyprus has all it needs to enhance its reputation as a regional and global premium destination and emerge as a genuine point of reference for luxury tourism and responsible gaming. “The ICR will provide extraordinary benefits to Cyprus’ economy with a positive impact on the country’s Gross Domestic Product and in tackling unemployment,” he added.
