Crab Sports launches in Maryland
The launch follows licence approval from the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission.
US.- US-based operator Crab Sports has launched in Maryland through a partnership with Gaming Innovation Group’s iGaming Cloud. The launch follows licence approval from the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission (MLGCC) and a controlled demonstration of its online sports wagering platform.
Crab Sports is the eleventh mobile sportsbook licensee to launch in Maryland since the online gambling market opened in November 2022. There are ten retail sports wagering facilities live in the state.
Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) secured licences in the US states of Maryland and Pennsylvania in March. The company received an online sports betting operator licence in Maryland and an interactive gaming manufacturer licence in Pennsylvania.
Maryland sports wagering handle totals $254.5m in June
Maryland’s ten retail and ten mobile sportsbooks saw a handle of $254.5m in June, according to figures released by Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA). The mobile handle accounted for 96 per cent of the total at $243.8m.
FanDuel led the operators ranking reporting $10.8m in taxable win from $108.6m in bets, followed by DraftKings with a $89.6m handle and $5.6m taxable win. BetMGM reported a handle of $20.8m and $986,232 in taxable win, while Caesars Sportsbook took $11.9m in bets for a $362,278 taxable win. Barstool Sportsbook had a sports betting handle of $4.7m and a taxable win of $277,745.
