Colonial Downs Group has opened another off-track-betting operation, taking historical horse racing gaming machines to Collinsville, Virginia.

US.- Colonial Downs Group has opened a new gaming venue, Rosie’s Game Room, in Collinsville, Virginia.

The venue is part of the expansion of Colonial Downs Group‘s off-track-betting operations. Under the Rosie’s Gaming Emporium brand, it hosts slots-like historical horseracing gaming machines.

Rosie’s Gaming Emporium regional general manager Ernie Dellaverson said: “This model is more of boutique-style of gaming facility at 37 machines where some of the other properties are 150 to 700 machines. It does offer all the same features and games.

“Before when we’re running the Windmill, we had about five employees here. Now we’re up to almost 30 employees and that comes with traditional benefits and vacation time. Some great jobs.”

Casino expansion in Virginia

Virginia has moved one step closer to the final approval of new permanent casino gaming regulations this week. The Virginia Lottery Board has approved the regulations and sent them to Governor Ralph Northam‘s desk for his signature.

The permanent regulations follow emergency regulations passed earlier this year. Once Northam signs them off, a 60-day public comment period will begin before final approval.

There are currently four proposed land-based casinos in the state, in Bristol, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Danville, which were approved by voters last November. A fifth proposal, ONE Casino + Resort in Richmond, has not yet been approved by voters but may be included on the ballot this November.
