China experiences lottery sales decline
According to new data, monthly lottery sales in China fell slightly in June, after three months of good results.
China.- The Ministry of Finance announced that monthly lottery sales went down 0.3 percent year-on-year in June to US$5 billion. The gambling modality had reported good results for three months in a row before this decrease.
Whilst the overall number was down, welfare lottery ticket sales increased 8.8 percent year-on-year to US$2.6 billion, whilst sports lottery sales experienced an 8.9 percent fall to US$2.3 billion in June. Sixteen provinces and regions experienced growth in lottery sales last month, which meant that lottery sales were up for the first six months of the year, reaching US$30 billion, a 5.5 percent increase year-on-year. Moreover, sales of welfare lottery tickets were also up 3.7 percent to US$15 billion, sports lottery numbers following with US$14.6 billion.
Earlier this month, it was reported that SF Lottery is preparing a unique instant scratch game to enhance its portfolio. The new SF Lottery game will only be offered in the provinces of Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hunan and Jiangxi, and it was already approved by the Ministry of Finance, which also highlighted that Guangdong and Jiangsu have been generating a distinguished amount of lottery revenue. Both provinces have ranked first and second in terms of sports lottery sales volumes last year.
