Cedar Crossing Casino to open ahead of schedule in November
The establishment will open in mid-November after construction advanced faster than expected, moving up the launch of Iowa’s largest casino.
US.- Cedar Crossing Casino & Entertainment Centre is set to open in mid-November, earlier than originally planned. Meanwhile, the property’s opening celebration has been rescheduled to take place on December 4-5, instead of December 31.
Peninsula Pacific Entertainment Chief Development Officer Stefan Huba credited detailed planning, project design, procurement, local labour and favourable weather for keeping construction ahead of schedule on the $275m development, billed as the largest casino investment in Iowa.
Cedar Crossing’s 1,500-seat entertainment venue is expected to host more than 100 shows each year featuring national, regional and local performers. The Pork Tornadoes will open on November 25, followed by Old Dominion on December 5, Steve-O on December 12 and the Eli Young Band on January 22, 2027. The initial lineup also includes Switchfoot, James “Murr” Murray, the Ying Yang Twins with Paul Wall, Parmalee, the Marshall Tucker Band, the Red Hot Chili Pipers, the Commodores and Carrot Top.
The venue will also feature Jocko’s Comedy Club, with Brooks Wheelan, Josh Blue and Greg Hahn among the comedians scheduled to perform as part of its Thursday Comedy Series.
Kim Pang, Executive Vice President and General Manager, stated that “Cedar Crossing is designed to be much more than a casino. The property is intended to become a destination for gaming, dining, comedy and live entertainment while creating new reasons for residents and visitors to spend time in Cedar Rapids.
The 160,000-square-foot property will include restaurants, such as Clubhouse by Zach Johnson, as well as an Arts and Cultural Centre. Tickets for all announced performances will go on sale on August 7, while Charter Members will receive access to a presale 24 hours earlier. Cedar Crossing also confirmed it will begin hiring for gaming operations, food and beverage and hospitality positions in September through its website, LinkedIn and Indeed.
In addition, the casino has launched its Points Partner Program, allowing guests to redeem rewards at more than 20 local businesses, and will operate a shuttle service connecting the property with nearby hotels, downtown Cedar Rapids, Czech Village and the New Bohemia district.
Under its operating model, the property will contribute 8 per cent of its net adjusted gross revenue to the Linn County Gaming Association to support non-profit organisations across the Corridor.
