Casino win 2.9 pct up in Nevada

The local control board released the 12-month totals that marked the end of the 2016-17 fiscal year.

US.- The Nevada Gaming Control Board reported late Thursday the results of the end of fiscal 2016-17, which showed that state’s casino win increased 2.9 percent to US$11.4 billion. The Strip also reported good results, with the same percentage to US$6.5 billion.

Downtown Las Vegas was the top scorer as it achieved the best number with US$608.7 million in winnings, but a 10.7 percent higher, three more times than overall Nevada and Las Vegas Strip. The Control Board said that of the 15 studied markets, only two had declines when compared to the previous 12 months, as Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. North Shore Lake Tahoe experienced a 2.5 percent decline to US$25.4 million, whilst the Boulder Strip was off 0.5 percent to US$793.9 million.

Table win was also down in 9 of the 15 markets on a state level during the twelve month period, but slot machine win increased in every single market except North Shore lake Tahoe. Back in May, local operators were near the US$1 billion gaming revenue mark: Nevada casinos generated US$991.6 million. Table games contributed with US$344.4 million and slot machines with US$647.2 million. Meanwhile, casinos in Las Vegas Strip grew 3 percent year-over-year, to almost US$546.8 million.
